Role in Movie:-
WHAT IS ZHOU XU(TOM) LIKE IN THE MOVIE?
Tom is an innocent, easy going and helpful army guy who learns about his life’s destiny to protect his love ones from unanticipated dangers with his new found power. And like “Daniel Radcliffe" in Harry Potter, Tom wields his magical powers to search for his missing father and the real mystery behind it.
His character strength is also his weakness, when it causes him to be in a web of complex relationships. First is his relationship with his dead girlfriend bella(played by maylene) and housemate May (played by Hui Hui). Second is when the plot further takes a twist- Broke Back Mountain Style, when Sam (played by Michael) starts to have feelings for Tom.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE OBSTACLES U FACE AND HOW DID U PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE MOVIE.
I remembered i was still having chicken pox few weeks before filming but i am glad everyone on the set was very nice, always making sure that i was feeling all right.i was very worried about the spots on my face and body but the director assured me that everything will be ok.
The script was also pretty difficult this time round because there were quite a bit of long Chinese phrases and scriptures to memorize. Therefore i had to ensure that i found out what the all the scriptures meant so i could memorise it and say it with conviction.
I also did some homework and some research to finding out what “ling wen shu”-the book was all about, Fengshui, and the powers of “tian zhu”.

-WHAT WAS THE MOST CHALLENGING SCENE?
I guess both sam and myself would agree that the one single scene that was particularly tricky was the juicy lovemaking scene. The sex scenes with bella was very smooth but sex scenes with a man was my very 'first time'.
I recalled how the director had passed us some DVDs to watch to prepare ourselves for it and that definitely helped.Initially it was awkward, causing lots of laughter and several takes, but after awhile I overcame the psychological barrier.

WHAT DID U LIKE MOST ABOUT THE MOVIE?
The cast & crew. They were a fun-loving and patient lot. I feel I have learnt tremendously from their experiences and interacting with them.

-DESCRIBE YOUR FEELINGS & THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS MOVIE?
While growing up, I was always fascinated with the possibility that magical beings and places co-existed in our reality. I vividly remember at times, I would play ‘pretend’ and have super powers so that I could make my vegetables taste more delicious. Acting in this movie was a dream come true that allowed me to relive my childhood fantasies.
Just imagine possessing a magical book that has the power to answer any question you desire to know, to save your friends from unparallel dangers and has unlimited powers that would give you an adventure of a lifetime- Spirit Compendium was an exhilarating and surreal experience.
With ghosts, fairies, heaven & hell-like creatures and more, I would like to think that this is the Chinese version of the ‘Harry Potter series’, only better. (haha)
